Steering and handling were markedly better, but the Jeep wasn't particularly agile by the standards of the day. The liter V8 engine is thirsty and failed to. This iteration of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is an improvement over its predecessor, but still scored lower than most of its contemporaries. Overall, the Grand Cherokee has a smoother ride and better on-road handling than past models, yet is more capable on the trail. It feels nimble around.
Overall this is a great SUV with a ton of power and the guts to get through deep snow! The Grand Cherokee Laredo is a good overall SUV, the body lines and architecture of this generation, far exceed all other generation models. "Laredo V-6 engine, 4WD. Bought the car new. Handed down to my daughter in college. Has been rock solid overall. PROS: Reliable. Only issue was a power window.
